The Egyptian basketball team achieved a significant accomplishment in the Jordanian capital, Amman, by winning gold medals in the Arab Championship for both boys and girls, showing deserving performance under the guidance of coaches Amr Abu Al-Khair and Emad Mahmoud. The teams were crowned after defeating Tunisia in the finals. Following the boys' match, Dr. Magdy Abou Freikha, Vice President of the Arab Federation and President of the Egyptian Federation, awarded the winning teams on behalf of Major General M. Ismail Al-Qarqawi, President of the Arab Federation. Also present for the awards for the top three teams in each category were Brigadier Abdullah Shalabi, Secretary General of the Arab Federation, Mohamed Arian, President of the Jordanian Basketball Federation, Engineer Nabil Abu Al-Ata, Secretary of the Federation, Elias Al-Zlaq, Head of the Tunisian Delegation, and Metha Ben Dawy, member of the UAE Basketball Federation and Technical Committee of the tournament.
The Egyptian boys' team completed their journey without any losses, defeating their Tunisian counterparts 75-58 after leading in four quarters 26-18, 21-18, 12-9, and 16-13. Tunisian player Idris Al-Toum scored the highest points with 16, just one point shy of Egyptian team captain Mohamed Shahin.
