The owner of the American club "Inter Miami," Cuban Jorge Mas, revealed the salary that Argentine star Lionel Messi will earn after joining the team this summer. Mas stated in an interview with the Spanish newspaper "El País": "Messi will receive an annual salary ranging between 50 and 60 million euros." He added, "Leo will have an ownership stake in the club after his retirement and will earn additional revenue from the 'APPLE TV' platform and Adidas shirt sales."
The Cuban billionaire disclosed that "efforts to sign Messi began in 2019," noting that "the pace of negotiations accelerated in the last year and a half between the cities of Barcelona, Rosario, Miami, and Doha." He pointed out that "playing in Miami will suit Messi for various reasons, including being closer to the atmosphere of his hometown, Rosario, and an open financial market without government tax constraints."
Mas continued: "Messi can turn Major League Soccer into one of the biggest leagues in the world; his arrival here is akin to the two biggest events in American history: Pele's transfer to the New York Cosmos and Beckham's joining Los Angeles." The owner of Inter Miami expects the number of club members to increase five to ten times in three years after Messi's arrival.
