The campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris announced on Saturday that it does not agree with Republican competitor Donald Trump's decision to hold a debate on September 4. Harris's campaign wrote on their page on the social media platform "X": "He (Trump) needs to stop playing games and show up for the debate on September 10 as promised. The Vice President will be there regardless and will take this opportunity to address the nation at prime time."
Harris's team stated that Trump is scared, which is why he previously said the debate should take place on September 4 on the Republican-friendly channel "Fox News". They added, "We would be happy to discuss additional rounds of debates after the ones already agreed upon by the campaigns." This was in response to Trump's statements that there should be more debates, not just those scheduled for early September.
Trump and Harris have failed to agree on the date and the television channel that would host the debate. The second round of debates was supposed to take place on September 10 on "ABC", when Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden was still in the race, but he has since decided to withdraw. In this regard, Trump stated that prior agreements were no longer valid and accused "ABC" of being sympathetic to Democrats and spreading fake news.
