Fast winger Allan Saint-Maximin bid farewell to his team Newcastle United on Saturday amid speculations about his potential transfer to Al-Ahli, which has returned to the Saudi Pro League. Saint-Maximin wrote on his account on the social media platform "X," formerly known as "Twitter": "Four years ago, I wore the Newcastle shirt for the first time. At that moment, I didn't realize that I would not only become a player for Newcastle but also a fan of the club." He added: "Some may think this is a nice farewell message, but the emotions are much deeper than any words I can say."
The French player stated that he had opportunities to leave Newcastle during tough times for the club but chose to stay and help it remain in the Premier League until it reached its current standing. Reports have indicated that the 26-year-old French winger decided to leave Newcastle to join Saudi Al-Ahli in a lucrative deal.
Al-Ahli has strengthened its squad significantly after quickly returning to the top league, signing several distinguished players, including Algerian Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City, Roberto Firmino from Liverpool, and Edouard Mendy from Chelsea. Saint-Maximin joined Newcastle in 2019 from French club Nice after playing for several teams, including Monaco, Bastia, and Hannover.
