Al-Ahli Sidon Wins the 2023 Lebanese Table Tennis Championship After an Exciting Final Series with Ghazir

Al-Ahli Sidon clinched the title of the Lebanese Championship for Men's Teams (First Division) in table tennis after a thrilling and challenging final series against the defending champion, Ghazir Sports Club, winning 3-2.

In detail, Saad al-Din al-Habash (Al-Ahli Sidon) triumphed over Ghaleb Fakhour (Ghazir Sports Club) 3-0, while Mohammad Hamieh (Ghazir) defeated Hassan Shbib (Sidon) 3-1. Mohammad Noor al-Habash (Sidon) overcame the former Lebanese champion Joseph Shlahub (Ghazir) 3-1, and Mohammad Hamieh (Ghazir) beat Saad al-Din al-Habash (Sidon) 3-0. In the decisive match, Hassan Shbib (Al-Ahli Sidon) won 3-0 against Ghaleb Fakhour (Ghazir Sports Club) to secure the championship at 3-2.

The match was officiated by international referees Dr. Kamil Marab and Mi Marab. The Army team finished in third place after defeating Antranik Beirut 3-1. The Army was represented by Ahmed Mustafa Harb, Ahmed Hassan Harb, and Ali Shbib, whereas Antranik Beirut was represented by Basel Harb, Hicham Al-Tawil, and Eli Jou Abed Al-Nour.

The winners were awarded by Naji Hallal (member of the federation) and the honorary president of the federation, Selim Al-Haj Nicolas, along with Secretary-General Dr. Pierre Hani and Treasurer Lawyer Wael Nour Al-Din.

In the ranking, the Al-Liwaa Sidon ranked fifth, Al-Ghadir Jabshit sixth, Homenetmen Beirut seventh, Al-Fadi Al-Aqdas eighth, and Al-Adab wa Al-Riyadah Kfarshima ninth. Mon LaSalle came in tenth. Homenetmen Jounieh placed eleventh and played a relegation match against Charity Dar Al-Noor, losing (1-3), resulting in Homenetmen Jounieh being relegated to the Second Division, while Charity Dar Al-Noor advanced to the First Division. The Sporting Club Beirut did not participate and was relegated to the Second Division.

The overall supervisor of the tournament was the general referee Imad Marab (Blue Badge and member of the International Referee Committee), with the technical committee chaired by Fadi Qasis (Chair) and Rabi Haydar (Vice Chair). The matches were officiated by international referees Mustafa Al-Daqdouq, Wael Seif Al-Din, Eli Suleiman, and Fadi Al-Ra'i.
