The Association of Travel and Tourism Offices in Lebanon, led by Jean Aboud, issued a warning today, Monday, about the growing fraudulent activities carried out by fake and illegal companies and websites targeting citizens wishing to travel abroad, taking advantage of the increased demand for travel during the summer season. The statement indicated that these operations include selling tickets as well as travel packages for holidays outside Lebanon.
The association confirmed that it is closely monitoring these issues in cooperation with its members and official authorities, particularly the Ministry of Tourism, and urged citizens to be cautious of fraudulent activities, especially suspicious offers presented by illegal or fictitious companies or through websites. It also called on citizens to report any suspicious cases to the association.
The association noted that its collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism has yielded positive and effective results, having recently succeeded in halting fraudulent operations carried out by one company, following discussions with Minister of Tourism Walid Nassar, who graciously took appropriate action in this regard.
It concluded by thanking the Ministry of Tourism, specifically Minister Nassar, for its cooperation and decisive actions, affirming the continued partnership between the two parties in the interest of the sector and its operating companies. Citizens were encouraged to visit its website at www.attal.org.lb to verify the name of the office they are dealing with, emphasizing that all offices listed on the site are licensed and have syndicate affiliation.
