Mid-flight, the captain of a Lufthansa aircraft refused to land in Tel Aviv, stating that "the crew was not prepared to travel to Israel," according to local press reports. The plane, which was traveling from Munich to Tel Aviv, landed in Cyprus, as reported by Israeli Channel 12.
The report mentioned that "the airline informed passengers that the plane would land in Cyprus 'for technical reasons,' and it would then be determined whether the flight would continue to Tel Aviv. However, after spending some time on the ground in Larnaca, it was announced that the plane would return to Germany."
Passengers were informed that they could disembark in Cyprus if they wished, but their luggage would remain on the plane and be returned to Munich. The airline added that the plane landed in Cyprus "as a precautionary measure due to security activity."
