Egypt has launched a large tribal and popular entity in Sinai under the name "Arab Tribes" to undertake specific tasks aimed at implementing them in Sinai and preventing all schemes devised to settle and displace Palestinians there. The "Union of Arab Tribes" held its first conference in Sinai attended by a large number of Arab tribal leaders from across Egypt, as well as politicians, journalists, and athletes.
During the conference, Ibrahim Al-Arjani, head of the Sinai Tribes Union, was elected as the president of the "Union of Arab Tribes." Ahmad Rouslan from Matrouh, and former head of the Arab Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, was selected as deputy president, alongside former Gharbia governor Ahmed Dife Saker, and writer and parliamentarian Mustafa Bakri was appointed as the official spokesperson for the union.
During the meeting, engineer Ibrahim Al-Arjani announced the establishment of a city named "Sisi" in the region, clarifying that "this area had been a refuge for extremists, and it is time for the children of martyrs in the battles against terrorism to reside there."
Regarding the reason for the establishment of this large tribal and popular entity, the official spokesperson for the union, Mustafa Bakri, told "Al-Arabiya.net" and "Al-Hadath.net" that holding the first conference of the union after its establishment sends an important message at this time, stressing the importance of unity in light of the grave challenges facing Egypt both domestically and internationally, as well as the situation in Palestine and the planned displacements to Sinai, which Egypt completely rejects.
Bakri pointed out that the union will play a significant role in confronting and halting displacement plans, as well as in providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. He revealed that the union aims to gather Arab tribes to face the challenges confronting Egypt, emphasizing that it will not serve as a substitute for political parties but rather will complement the role of all.
On his part, Sheikh Issa Al-Kharafin, Chief of Sinai Tribes and a member of the Union of Arab Tribes, stated to "Al-Arabiya.net" and "Al-Hadath.net" that the union will play a major role in solving customary issues and collaborating with the state to provide the necessities of life for the residents of Sinai, confirming that the union signifies that Sinai belongs to its people and not to anyone other than Egyptians.
Al-Kharafin revealed that Ibrahim Al-Arjani, the union's president, promised the people of Sinai to establish settlements and Bedouin homes on the outskirts of the city of Sisi, which will conform to the customs and traditions of the people of Sinai. He also committed to keeping the costs or fees for residents minimal, with the union's fund covering the majority of expenses.
He clarified that the establishment of the union aimed to unify the scattered tribal entities in the western and eastern deserts and Sinai into a single union, noting that the initiation and establishment of the union in Sinai carries many messages, the most important being the insistence that the idea of settling Palestinians in Sinai is unacceptable, and that displacing them from their lands and settling the Palestinian issue is not permissible.
