The Jalopnik website announced that the American company "SpaceX" is primarily responsible for most of the space debris. The site's reporters state that they studied a report from the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs regarding the amount of debris in space. It turns out that in 2023, there were 2,664 objects in space that are generally considered debris, with 2,166 of them related to American space programs.

The journalists assert: "The United States bears a significant responsibility for the increase in space debris, but there must be an entity behind this increase." They believe that the company SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, is responsible for this rise since, according to Jalopnik experts, 90% of the objects launched from the United States into space come from this company. For instance, in 2023 alone, 98 out of 223 launches worldwide were conducted by Musk's company, leading to a significant amount of debris.

For comparison, the share of countries in space debris in 2023 was as follows: Russia 62, Britain 144, China 128, Japan 11, France 10, India 6, and Germany 2.
