A Spanish news report revealed today, Wednesday, the offer made by Saudi Al-Hilal to acquire Portuguese right-back Joao Cancelo from Manchester City. Saud Abdulhamid, the right-back from Al-Hilal, is close to leaving for Roma, prompting the club to search for a replacement in the same position.
It is anticipated that Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City coach, will not rely on Cancelo in the team's starting lineup this season, making him more likely to leave. According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Al-Hilal intends to offer a yearly salary of 16 million euros to Cancelo to persuade him to come to Saudi Arabia.
While Barcelona has not completely ruled out extending Cancelo's loan, Manchester City hopes to offload the player permanently and receive financial compensation, especially since he is not expected to be utilized. Consequently, according to the report, Manchester City is encouraging Cancelo to accept Al-Hilal's offer instead of considering Barcelona.
The report confirmed that all news regarding Ilkay Gundogan's move from Barcelona to Manchester City in exchange for Cancelo is entirely incorrect. It clarified that Gundogan's transfer to Manchester City will be a completely separate deal.
