Terrifying footage has captured the moment a gym-goer in Indonesia fell from a treadmill and out of a third-floor window. The video, recorded at a busy facility in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, shows a line of treadmills in use on June 18, when the woman suddenly stumbled backward. The woman, reported to be 22 years old, attempted to grasp the window frame but quickly disappeared from view after falling through it.
According to reports, her friend had asked her to exercise with him on the second floor, but she preferred to work out on the treadmills on the third floor. The woman had only been exercising for about 30 minutes when she slowed down her pace before the tragic accident, as per local media reports. She was reportedly rushed to the hospital with severe head injuries, but doctors were unable to save her life. An autopsy reportedly revealed that she suffered from severe head trauma.
Police stated that the placement of the treadmill next to the window was "dangerous," as there was only a 60-centimeter gap between them. Additionally, the low height of the wall beneath the window—only 30 cm—made it easy for the woman to fall through.
The incident prompted the Pontianak Police's Criminal Investigation Unit to investigate the crime scene, suspecting that several individuals may have opened the windows at the location. Meanwhile, the gym suspended its operations for three days following the incident. The gym reportedly had warning signs instructing patrons not to open the windows, but the sign was said to have been damaged and the writing obscured. According to local media, the personal trainer usually closes the windows but was on a break at the time of the accident.
