Russia: Massive Fire in Building Near Moscow

A massive fire broke out in a building near the Russian capital, Moscow, with local sources denying claims that the building is connected to the Platan Military Research Institute. Roselectronics stated that the burning building in Fryazino is not related to the institute specializing in electronics research for Russian military aircraft. The company noted that the headquarters was transferred to private ownership in the 1990s.

Meanwhile, the Russian Emergency Ministry reported that the area of the fire in the building located in the Fryazino industrial area extended to about four thousand square meters, with the building completely covered in smoke.

As of now, the incident has resulted in two confirmed fatalities. Local media reported that "the fire caused employees to be trapped inside the building." Reports attributed the building to the Platan Center, which specializes in research related to Russian fighter aircraft, nuclear launch munitions, S-400 air defenses, and various guided munitions. The cause of the explosion in the building has not yet been revealed.
