The Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Faris Al-Abyad, headed to the United States, starting his tour in Washington with meetings with the World Bank aimed at discussing projects for funding the health sector and possible support for the digital transformation of the sector. Additionally, he will follow up on Lebanon's request to benefit from the fund established for the prevention and preparedness for epidemics and pandemics, which the World Bank launched in collaboration with the World Health Organization.
The tour will include, among other significant stops, participation over three days in the United Nations General Assembly meetings dedicated to health issues and discussions on comprehensive health care systems. The tour will also include other stops focused on discussing supportive projects for the health sector and system in Lebanon, including meetings with officials from the Health Organization for the Middle East (HOME) and the International Lebanese Medical Association (ILMA), as well as dialogue sessions with members of the Lebanese community and Lebanese-American doctors in Houston, Boston, and New York.
