Israeli artillery shelling has targeted the towns of Yarin, Al-Bustan, and the Wadi Owaid area in western southern Lebanon. Hezbollah announced in a statement today, Sunday, that it had targeted the positions of Bayad Blida and Al-Malkiya in southern Lebanon with guided missiles. In response, the Israeli army dropped illuminating bombs opposite the town of Mais al-Jabal and opened fire from the Al-Assi position towards Mais al-Jabal, resulting in one citizen being injured by a gunshot and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Tensions have escalated in the southern areas adjacent to Israel, with intermittent clashes and heavy artillery fire reported along the confrontation lines. Hezbollah mourned 7 of its members who were killed by Israeli artillery in recent hours. The Israeli army confirmed on Sunday that one of its tanks shelled a "terror cell" that launched an anti-tank guided missile from the Lebanese border towards the Mount Dov area in northern Israel. The army stated that "there were no human casualties or material losses among its forces," according to the "Times of Israel" website.
Earlier, the Israeli army announced it had shelled a group preparing to launch anti-tank missiles towards the Avivim settlement at the border between Lebanon and Israel. The newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" reported that 3 Israeli soldiers were injured after being targeted by an anti-tank missile launched from Lebanon towards the Bar'am area near the border.
Additionally, there were reports that "Israeli shelling targeted the outskirts of the towns of Khaltah and the hills of Kfar Shuba near the Shebaa Farms in southern Lebanon." It was also reported that Israeli shelling "targeted the forests of the town of Maroun al-Ras in the central sector of southern Lebanon." The National News Agency in Lebanon reported that "Israeli warplanes flew over Baalbek in the Beqaa region of Lebanon." It also noted that "Hezbollah targeted a new Israeli observation tower in the town of Misgav Am overlooking the town of Adaisseh in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon."
In light of these events, the agency noted that "about 1,500 Lebanese and Syrian families have fled from areas along the border with Israel to the city of Tyre." The Israeli army accused Hezbollah of seeking to escalate military operations in the border region, warning that this "will drag Lebanon into war," following renewed exchanges of rocket fire between Israel and the party.
