Former leader of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, stated in a post on his account via the "X" platform: "It is time for the G7 to impose a ceasefire in Gaza."
The G7 foreign ministers emphasized "the necessity of reducing tensions in the Middle East amid increasing concerns of an attack that could be launched by Iran and its allies against Israel in response to the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, along with a senior Hezbollah leader in the southern Beirut suburb last week."
The G7 foreign ministers said in a statement: "All parties in the Middle East should steer clear of the cycle of revenge to lower tensions and engage in constructive dialogue."
They expressed "deep concern over the rising tensions in the Middle East that threaten to ignite a larger conflict in the region." The statement underscored that "no country or nation would benefit from further escalation in the Middle East."
