Officially... Procedures by Republicans Aimed at Impeaching Biden

On Monday, Republicans in Congress initiated official procedures aimed at impeaching President Joe Biden, coinciding with the start of the Democratic National Convention, in a move that is unlikely to achieve its objectives. A report issued by three influential committees in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives accuses Biden of corruption related to his son Hunter's foreign business dealings.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan stated that the investigation "clearly" shows that Biden "abused his public office for the personal financial benefit of the Biden family and Biden's business partners." Meanwhile, House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer pointed out that "President Biden's legacy is marked by the abuse of public office, corruption, and obstructions," noting that "the evidence provided by our impeachment investigation constitutes the strongest case ever made for impeaching a sitting president in the history of the House of Representatives." However, there is no evidence that Biden exploited his position for his son's benefit or that he intervened in Hunter's business dealings. The document lacks definitive evidence based on conclusions about the relationship between the president and his son.

Biden has long denied assisting his son in his business ventures, whether in Ukraine or China. Republicans have leveraged Hunter Biden's foreign ties and controversial personal life as a recovering drug addict to embarrass the president.
