The caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with the head of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO), Patrick Ghosh, along with a delegation, this morning at the Grand Serail. During the meeting, they discussed the various tasks of the organization, including monitoring the ceasefire, overseeing truce agreements, and assisting with other United Nations peacekeeping operations in the region to fulfill its mission. Ghosh emphasized the role of the Lebanese government in implementing UN Resolution 1701 and the necessity for all parties to work towards its execution.
### Minister of Economy
Prime Minister Mikati also met with Minister of Economy and Trade Amin Salam, who announced after the meeting: "Our visit today to the Prime Minister was to inform him about the very positive and distinguished visit to Qatar we made last week, which included important meetings for Lebanon, focusing on political, economic, and social matters. The discussions included meetings with the President and members of the Shura Council, where we talked about Lebanese issues and several other matters." He added: "We informed the Prime Minister about the upcoming phase involving the establishment of a follow-up committee and the start of work on the Qatar-Lebanon joint committee in agreement with the Qatari side, focusing on initiatives to support alternative energy in Lebanon to secure over 450 megawatts of electricity from solar energy. There is also an initiative concerning transportation and initiatives related to the Lebanese family, social support, transportation, and long-term projects. All of this will be coordinated with the relevant ministries, and we will convey to all relevant ministers the positive outlook and full support from Qatar for these files, aiming to start work at the beginning of next year. We also informed him about the positive feedback we received from Expo Doha 2023, where the official opening of the Lebanese pavilion was reported as a great success, according to the Ministry of Municipalities and officials at the expo."
### Minister of Justice
Mikati and Justice Minister Henry Khoury discussed the affairs of the ministry and the current situation.
### Contracted University Professors
Prime Minister Mikati received MP Bilal al-Hachimi with a delegation of contracted university professors. MP al-Hachimi announced after the meeting: "We met with Prime Minister Mikati with a delegation of contracted university professors to demand the approval of the tenure file, which has not been resolved for over eight years. We know the struggles of university professors, as contracted ones lack the means to live in terms of salaries, health, and schooling. Hence, the demand was to expedite the tenure file, and we received good promises from the Prime Minister."
### Parliament Members
The Prime Minister also received consecutive visits from MPs Wael Abu Faour, Ahmad Rustum, and Muhammad Suleiman.
### Public Procurement Authority
Mikati met with the head of the Public Procurement Authority, Jean al-Oly, and the Secretary-General of the Higher Relief Commission, General Muhammad Khair. Al-Oly stated: "During the meeting, we discussed applying the Public Procurement Law to the Higher Relief Commission’s tenders for greater transparency, in addition to the administrative status of the Public Procurement Authority so that it can effectively carry out its functions."
### Electricité du Liban
The Prime Minister also met with the Director General of Electricité du Liban, Kamal Hayek, to discuss the current electricity situation and the possibility of increasing power supply hours.
