Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hmiyeh, met in his office with a delegation from the unions of truck owners involved in external transit transport, led by head Ahmad Khair, and the refrigerated transport sector in Lebanon, headed by Ali Abdel-Fattah. The discussions focused on measures that could enhance the work and role of these sectors in the service of transporting Lebanese products and various goods and their positive impact on the national economic cycle. Hmiyeh confirmed that "the Ministry of Public Works and Transport has not and will not spare any effort in continuously following up on all difficulties faced by the unions in their work," stressing that "the land transport sector, particularly the truck sector involved in transit and refrigerated transport, is a vital artery through which processes of exporting goods take place." For this reason, "we have been and continue to work on overcoming the challenges hindering the operation of trucks involved in transit."
Hmiyeh also welcomed the Minister of Displaced Affairs in the caretaker government, Issam Sharafeddine, accompanied by the mayor of Majdaliyah, Mahmoud Matar. They discussed the latest developments in Lebanon, particularly the issue of Syrian displacement into Lebanon, and the measures taken to address it within the framework of Lebanese sovereignty. The discussion included regional development matters addressed by the ministry in the Aley district, especially the maintenance of essential roads and addressing the collapse in the town of Majdaliyah. Hmiyeh directed the relevant officials in the ministry to "work rapidly to complete the file of addressing the collapse in Majdaliyah before the upcoming rainy season in preparation for its assignment, ensuring the safety of citizens and preventing the closure of the town's roads and its disconnection from its surroundings."
