Jordan Follows Investigations into the Murder of Jordanian Student Mohammad Barakat in Germany

The Director of the Operations and Consular Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Sufyan Al-Qudah, confirmed that the ministry is following the case of the death of Jordanian citizen and student Mohammad Osama Barakat in Hamburg, Germany. Ambassador Al-Qudah explained that the Operations and Consular Affairs Department and the Jordanian Embassy in Berlin are coordinating with the relevant German authorities to investigate this unfortunate incident, which has not yet concluded. He added that the Jordanian Embassy in Berlin has begun the necessary official procedures related to transporting the body to Jordan in coordination with the deceased's family.

A phone call was received by the family of student Mohammad Osama Barakat, informing them of his death at his location in Hamburg, where he was studying to obtain a bachelor's degree. One of the victim's relatives stated that Mohammad was 21 years old and was enrolled in a technology program at a prestigious university in Hamburg. They confirmed that the security authorities in Germany have not spoken much about the case, which has deeply saddened his family, and all the information they have received indicates that he was shot twice in the head, causing his death hours after being transported to the hospital.
