Christmas Eve: Israeli Airstrikes Ignite Ancient Trees in the South

Intense airstrikes are being witnessed in southern Lebanon on Christmas Eve, consuming the green trees and turning the holy occasion into a scene of anticipation and caution. In صور, a correspondent from the "National News Agency" reported that an adversarial march launched several rockets onto the area between Ramya and Marwahin. Additionally, an airstrike targeted the town of Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon.

Most southern villages are devoid of any joyous Christmas atmosphere due to the ongoing clashes along the border between Hezbollah and Israel. In the afternoon, Israeli warplanes fired three missiles at an area between the towns of Taybe and Rubb thirty, targeting a home. Another hostile shell hit the Hbeish new school building in the "Al-Shamsiyat" neighborhood of the town of Taybe. Later reports indicated that enemy artillery shelling targeted the outskirts of the town of Tyre Harfa, as well as the surroundings of the towns of Maroun al-Ras and Yaron in southern Lebanon.

In the afternoon, the Israeli army began launching illumination flares over the border villages adjacent to the Blue Line while reconnaissance aircraft continued to fly over southern villages and towns. This coincided with intermittent Israeli shelling targeting the outskirts of the town of Naqoura, Mount al-Labuna, and Aita al-Shaab.

Hezbollah announced in a statement that "in response to the repeated Zionist assaults on civilian villages and homes, we targeted at 2:50 PM today the Avivim settlement (the occupied Lebanese village of Salha) with appropriate weapons, resulting in damage to one residential building and confirmed injuries."

Israeli media reported in the afternoon that two anti-tank missiles were fired from southern Lebanon towards the Merjayout border region in the Upper Galilee. Earlier in the morning, Israeli media stated that several roads in the Upper Galilee region near the border with Lebanon were closed due to the security situation and warnings of anti-tank missile launches from Lebanon. The newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” reported that several settlements in the mentioned region were also closed, especially those located up to 4 kilometers from the border, with the exception of Kiryat Shmona. The newspaper also mentioned morning closures of several Israeli settlements in the western Galilee, including: Limon, Patz, Rosh Hanikra, Shlomi, Metzvah, Adamit, Arab al-Aramshe, Elon, Ghorin, Gernot, Shomra, Zar'it, Shtula, Mit, among others.

Al-Jazeera reported that "the Israeli army has asked residents of the border town of Limon in the western Galilee to evacuate immediately." On the other hand, Israeli warplanes carried out several airstrikes on the Labuna area in southern Lebanon. After a long day of confrontations on the southern front, which included intense Israeli shelling directly targeting residential homes, Hezbollah resumed its military operations early in the morning, targeting "enemy artillery positions in (Dihashon)" with "rockets," announcing a "direct hit."
