The "National Bloc" announced today that "the threat issued by Hezbollah's Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah against the Cypriot government constitutes a continuation of the policy aimed at isolating Lebanon from its entire surroundings and bringing about more problems with Cyprus and the European Union, which we can do without."
In a statement, it added: "At a time when Lebanon needs all historically friendly countries to help extricate it from the crisis of this war that has devastated the south and displaced its people, and to assist it in the future with reconstruction and compensating its citizens, it seems that the resistance axis will not rest until it completely turns our country into a second North Korea, entirely disconnected from the rest of the world."
The bloc condemned "the party's threats against the Cypriot state and previously against Arab countries," calling on "Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib to take at least minimal measures to save face and approach the Cypriot authorities to clarify Lebanon's official and popular stance rejecting these threats, which have no relation to the interests of the Lebanese state."
