The Lebanese Internal Security Forces, through the Public Relations Division, revealed today, Thursday, details of a complex and horrific criminal case. The incident began with a report of the disappearance of Hassan Mohammed, a Syrian citizen who vanished under mysterious circumstances after going to the town of Naameh for a business matter related to "environmental exhausts" for cars. The statement clarifies how the case transformed from a mere missing person report to a shocking murder, with extensive efforts by the Intelligence Division of the Internal Security Forces to uncover the circumstances of the incident and track down the perpetrators, shining light on the efforts made to achieve justice and safeguard security in Lebanon.
On January 1, 2024, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces in Lebanon issued a statement indicating that it received a report of a missing Syrian national named Hassan Mohammed (born 1983), who was last seen on December 31, 2023, after heading to Naameh to purchase "environmental exhausts" for cars, with all contact cut off since then. Following this report, the Intelligence Division investigated the case and, during inquiries, suspected the involvement of one M. H. (born 1979, Lebanese) in the murder of the missing person, especially after it became evident that he parked the victim’s car in Aramoun two days after his disappearance.
The suspect was interrogated, initially denying any involvement in the crime and attempting to mislead the investigation. However, through field follow-up in Naameh, specifically at the suspect's location, security forces were able to find human bone remains inside a barrel used for incinerating waste. Upon being confronted with the evidence by the Intelligence Division, the suspect confessed to committing the murder alone and stated that he incinerated the victim's body using diesel and gasoline to conceal the crime. He also admitted that he lured the victim with the help of Y. A. (born 1992, Syrian) and requested M. A. (born 1982, Syrian) to help him transport the victim’s car to Aramoun. He added that he sought assistance from his wife (R. J., born 1980, Palestinian) and his brother (Z. H., born 1984, Lebanese) to divert suspicion from himself.
All the aforementioned individuals involved were arrested by the Intelligence Division, and they confessed to their charges. DNA testing results of the seized bones confirmed that they belonged to the victim, Hassan Mohammed. The remains were handed over to his family, and the detainees were referred to the competent judicial authority. In Naameh, he was killed and his body was burned for the sake of theft, with the Intelligence Division revealing the circumstances of the crime and arresting the murderer and all involved. #Security_is_Trust — Internal Security Forces (@LebISF) February 29, 2024
