Iraqi civil defense teams managed to rescue 70 visitors of different nationalities after extinguishing a fire that broke out inside a seven-story building used as a Hussainiya in Karbala province. The directorate stated in a statement received by Alsumaria News, “Civil defense teams successfully rescued seventy visitors of different nationalities, most of whom suffered from cases of suffocation due to inhaling smoke from the fire that erupted on the second floor of the seven-story building, which is used as a Hussainiya to serve visitors in Karbala province.”
The directorate added that “civil defense teams mobilized and immediately moved to the site of the incident, starting rescue operations for the visitors while simultaneously working to extinguish the fire that broke out in the second floor, which is designated as a kitchen and restaurant inside the aforementioned building.”
The directorate continued that “civil defense teams worked to secure the transfer of critical cases to Al-Hussain Educational Hospital in the province, and completed the extinguishing and cooling operations without recording any human losses.” The directorate pointed out that “an investigation has been opened at the police station responsible for the geographical area, and a forensic expert has been summoned to determine the causes that led to the outbreak of the fire inside the Hussainiya building.”
