Egypt: Hundreds Arrested for Causing Deaths of Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

Egyptian media reported that 450 brokers responsible for the deaths of Egyptian pilgrims have been arrested, with plans to apprehend the remaining brokers as they arrive at airports. According to sources from "Cairo 24," there is a complete list of the names of the pilgrimage brokers currently outside the country, and they are being arrested consecutively upon their arrival at Egyptian airports.

It was noted that the brokers were identified through the barcode present with the pilgrims, as it contains details of the entity that issued it. In this context, one tourism company owner revealed plans for an urgent meeting this week with the Chamber of Tourism Companies to discuss what occurred during the pilgrimage season.

The tourism company owner stated that more than 50 tourism companies participating in the recently concluded Hajj season are expected to attend the meeting, emphasizing the importance of preserving the reputation of tourism companies accredited by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. He also indicated that there will be an effort to control over 35,000 tourist offices, including those that participated in the last pilgrimage season, adding that any violations will result in immediate closure and accountability.
