The Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, revealed that U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein "confirmed that negotiations will proceed based on U.S. President Joe Biden's original proposal, without any modifications," noting that it represents "the last cartridge." In an interview with "Al-Jadeed," Berri pointed out that "the United States has exerted significant pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, prompting him to accept Biden's proposal." He added, "I heard from Hochstein that America wants de-escalation and a reduction in military tensions and has not asked us for any intervention with Hezbollah." Berri announced that "Hochstein did not come from Tel Aviv but went directly to Beirut, and his presence in Beirut is a clear American message that Lebanon is not excluded from the ongoing negotiations. He mentioned the presence of U.S. warships and justified their presence to prevent war in the region," stating that Hochstein said: "We hope not to have to use them." Berri saw that "the topic of a major war depends on the coming days," emphasizing that "the key to resolving the upcoming phase is Resolution 1701, nothing else."
