Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara to discuss a ceasefire in Gaza and peace, following his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, according to Agence France-Presse. Erdoğan's office stated that the two officials addressed "the massacres committed by Israel in Palestinian territories" as well as "the necessary steps to achieve a permanent ceasefire and peace." During the discussions with Abbas, Erdoğan strongly criticized the silence of some Western countries regarding the extremely high death toll in Gaza, emphasizing that this situation is "unacceptable," as his office added. He also stated that all countries, especially those in the Muslim world, should increase efforts to ensure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and guarantee the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.
