The press office of the administration of the Russian city of Karabash announced the collapse of a dam at the Kyalimskoye reservoir in the Chelyabinsk region, part of the federal Ural region. A source in the city administration told the "Novosti" agency, in response to a question about the dam collapse, "Such information exists. The Ministry of Emergency Situations rushed to the scene immediately." He clarified that according to preliminary data, "about two hundred people are trapped in the flood area." Earlier, meteorological experts had predicted heavy rains for extended periods, sometimes very intense, accompanied by thunderstorms, hail, and a sharp rise in water levels in small rivers in the Chelyabinsk region.
