Kimberly Cheatle, the head of the U.S. Secret Service, indicated that "the U.S. security agency has strengthened the protective measures for former President Donald Trump following an assassination attempt on Saturday." Cheatle noted that "the Secret Service reviewed the security protocols at the Republican Party conference in Milwaukee." She added in a statement: "I have confidence in the security plan devised by the Secret Service conference coordinator and our partners, which we have reviewed and bolstered since the shooting on Saturday. In addition to the additional security enhancements we provided for former President Trump's detail in June, we have also made changes to his security detail starting Saturday to ensure his continued protection at the conference and throughout the remainder of the campaign."
