Benefits and Harms of "Sweet Pepper"

Benefits and Harms of

Dr. Angelika Duyval, a Russian nutrition expert, points out the "beneficial properties of sweet pepper, but no one mentions that this product can harm some people." According to her, nutritionists evaluate the benefits of different types of sweet pepper based on their high content of Vitamin C and the B Vitamin group. However, this is not its main advantage. She states in an interview with Sputnik radio: "The main benefit of sweet pepper lies in its high cobalt content, which accounts for 30 percent of the body's daily requirement for this element. However, few people talk about this. People who suffer from thyroid disorders and hormonal imbalances need cobalt, so they can consume this product regularly, as it helps in the formation of thyroid hormones. It is also very beneficial for individuals suffering from iron deficiency anemia, as it enhances iron absorption when combined with Vitamin C."

The expert also notes that, in addition to its beneficial properties, sweet pepper has harmful traits. Since sweet pepper belongs to the nightshade family, which contains alkaloid compounds (nitrogen-containing substances with biological activity), it can negatively affect health. She explains: "Plants of the nightshade family contain certain toxins - alkaloid compounds. If a person suffers from liver or kidney diseases or issues with the excretory system, they should completely exclude all products from the nightshade family from their diet, such as potatoes, eggplants, and tomatoes. This is because they can poison the body, and if the liver and excretory system are already overloaded, it will exacerbate their condition. Sweet pepper is also not recommended for individuals with arrhythmias, angina, joint diseases, acute gastritis, or gastrointestinal ulcers."
