The Egyptian presidency announced today, Tuesday, that "President Abdel Fattah Sisi and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed ceasefire efforts in Gaza." Sisi stated that "it's time to end the war in Gaza," warning of the potential for "the conflict to expand regionally in ways that are hard to imagine."
He emphasized the need for all international and regional efforts to provide various forms of support to end the political crisis and tragedy in Sudan. Sisi believes that "a ceasefire in Gaza should be the beginning of wider international recognition of the Palestinian state and the implementation of the two-state solution."
Earlier today, Blinken arrived in Egypt for talks on a ceasefire in Gaza. President Sisi affirmed during his meeting with the U.S. Secretary of State that the time has come to end the ongoing war in Gaza and to resort to reason, wisdom, and to elevate the language of peace and diplomacy.
