The Lebanon men's basketball team departed on Sunday morning for Valencia, Spain, via Rafic Hariri International Airport, to participate in the Olympic qualifying tournament for basketball at the upcoming Summer Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris, France, from July 26 to August 11.
The members of the delegation are as follows: Maroun Jibril (President), Eddy Abi Zakhm (Team Manager), Serbian Miroslav Perisic (Coach), Serbian Marko Filipovic and Ralph Akel (Assistant Coaches), Khalil Nassar (Physiotherapist), Pierre Velfli (Fitness Coach), Dr. Sara Hijjar (Doctor), and Michel Khalil (Logistics), along with players Ali Haidar, Ali Mazhar, Jad Khalil, Sergio Darwish, Gerard Hadidian, Karim Azeddine, Amir Saud, Haig Kyokjian, Ali Mansour, Karim Zenon, Youssef Khayat, and Omri Spielman.
Lebanon will face the Spanish team at 9:30 PM on Tuesday, July 2, and will play against the Angolan team at 6:30 PM on Thursday, July 4.
It is noteworthy that Latvia, Spain, Greece, and Puerto Rico will host the Olympic qualifying tournament, involving 24 teams, with four teams qualifying for the Olympics and joining those that have already qualified in prior rounds.
