The Saudi ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will provide a financial contribution of 10 million dollars to Lebanon through the King Salman Center. He pointed out that this support extends the leadership's commitment in the Kingdom to humanitarian and relief work, aiming to achieve stability and development in the country. During the signing of a cooperation memorandum between the King Salman Relief Center and the Supreme Relief Authority at the Grand Serail, he noted that the support offered by the Kingdom continues the solidarity with the Lebanese people.
For his part, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati viewed this occasion as an expression of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's concerns for Lebanon, its stability, and its support. He affirmed that Saudi Arabia has been and will remain Lebanon's big brother, striving to maintain its security, safety, stability, and the unity of its people. He added, "We are happy to meet today here in the Grand Serail on the occasion of signing the joint cooperation memorandum between the 'King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works' and the 'Supreme Relief Authority.' This occasion is certainly a manifestation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment, through the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, to Lebanon and its stability and support in all fields. I am confident that the Kingdom has been and will continue to be Lebanon's big brother, working in all Arab and international forums to maintain its security, stability, safety, and the unity of its people."
He continued, "The strong brotherly relationship that binds Lebanon and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has deepened and solidified over the years, with the Kingdom always standing by Lebanon, being the support and pillar during hardships, and the safety valve that preserves the unity of the Lebanese, regardless of their sect, doctrine, or political team. These fundamental principles were manifested by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through facts and actions, embodied in the 'Taif Agreement,' which we firmly adhere to, and which still forms the appropriate framework for managing the country's affairs. In all the meetings I held with His Highness the Crown Prince of the Kingdom, Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed his support for Lebanon in overcoming its crisis and supporting its institutions, but under the condition of implementing the required structural reforms and for the Lebanese institutions to fully carry out their role, especially regarding the election of a new president for Lebanon. This responsibility undeniably falls upon us, the Lebanese, and it is required of us, first and foremost, to fulfill our duties with support from friendly countries, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the forefront."
He added, "What is happening in the Kingdom has initiated a constructive revolution through undertaking reform workshops that developed the concept of modernity in the Kingdom and achieved significant qualitative leaps acknowledged by all. Undoubtedly, the regional understandings established by the Kingdom will contribute to establishing stability in the region and will further advance the process of revival and development. Those who have managed to elevate Saudi Arabia and its youth to the leadership and pioneering positions they have reached, and transform the Kingdom into a productive country in every sense of the word in a short period, will not find it difficult to support their brothers in Lebanon. Hence, we look forward to the Kingdom's care and its fraternal gesture toward my country, Lebanon, so it can rise again."
