5 Michelin Star Restaurants in Dubai Featured in the 2024 Guide

Michelin has revealed its new list of restaurants included in the "Michelin Dubai 2024" guide. A total of 106 restaurants, representing 35 different types of cuisine, caught the attention of the Michelin inspectors known for their discretion, and were included in this year's final selection. In this third edition, the "Michelin Dubai" guide recognized 4 new restaurants with one star each, a new restaurant with two stars, and 6 new establishments with a Bib Gourmand rating.

Gwendal Poullennec, the international director of Michelin guides, stated: “Dubai has truly become known as an international culinary destination, and its impressive evolution continues year after year.” He added, “The appeal of Dubai is not only for international travelers or local food enthusiasts; talented chefs and restaurant owners worldwide appreciate the allure of the city’s vibrant food scene and are eager to leave their mark. Thanks to the various dining styles and types of cuisine available in the city, there really is something for everyone.”

A New Addition

The restaurant "Roh On 45" is not only new to the guide; it debuts with two stars. Founded by renowned British chef Jason Atherton, the restaurant is located on the 45th floor of the Grosvenor House Hotel. It offers a tasting menu for only 22 guests, combining Japanese ingredients with French techniques to deliver stunning and refined dishes.

Dubai also added 4 new restaurants, each awarded one Michelin star:

- "La Dame de Pic Dubai" is the first venture of renowned chef Anne-Sophie Pic in the city and was rewarded with one Michelin star for her modern French cuisine.

- "Smoked Room" is another one-star restaurant in the guide, showcasing a new concept from chef Dani Garcia, which is a sibling to the main restaurant in Madrid.

- "Seigetsu by Tetsuya," under the leadership of talented chef Tetsuya Wakuda and his team, offers an exceptional dining experience by blending Japanese and French culinary influences in an elegant and tranquil setting.

- "Orfali Bros." is managed by three Syrian brothers and offers bold, balanced small plates with global influences. This beloved restaurant has maturely progressed, earning a Michelin star after previously receiving a Bib Gourmand rating.

All one-star restaurants from the 2023 lineup retained their distinction this year, bringing the total to 4 restaurants with two Michelin stars and 15 with one star.

Six restaurants received Bib Gourmand recognition:

- "Do Gastrobar": A modern restaurant offering a fusion of Asian and European flavors.

- "Rivolte": The smaller sibling of Avatar located next door, serving a mix of traditional and modern cuisine.

- "Berenjak": This branch of the main London restaurant serves many classic Persian dishes.

- "Ho Lee Co": Another project by prominent local chef Reif Othman, specializing in Korean barbecue.

- "Reef Japanese Kushiyaki - Dubai Hills": The second branch located in Dubai Hills offers a range of dishes from kushiyaki to classic dishes with modern touches.

- "Wagyu Hototogisu": A very popular Japanese restaurant located on the second floor of the Mall of the Emirates, known for its ramen and other specialty dishes.

Special Awards

The special Michelin awards in the Michelin guide highlight the remarkable diversity of roles in the hospitality industry and talented, inspiring professionals. The Young Chef Award was given to Jesus Lobato Suarez, who is just 30 years old and the head chef of "Smoked Room." The "Duanji by Po. Lan" team received the Hospitality Award, while "The Guild" won the New Opening Award of the year.
