Despite Israel's confirmation that its airstrikes targeting the Mawasi area in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, hit Hamas military wing leader Muhammad al-Deif, the movement asserts that he is fine. A senior Hamas official emphasized that Commander of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Muhammad al-Deif, is "well" after being targeted by an Israeli strike in Gaza on Saturday. The source, requesting anonymity, stated that "Commander Muhammad al-Deif is fine and is directly supervising operations in Gaza." He further stressed that the Israeli airstrikes are merely "massacres against civilians," adding that Israel claims the presence of movement leaders to justify the bombings.
The movement announced its decision to halt negotiations aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza due to Israel's lack of seriousness, referencing the bombing from the previous day. It was explained that Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh informed mediators and some regional parties during a round of communications and phone conversations about Hamas's decision to cease negotiations, citing Israel's lack of seriousness, continuous procrastination, and ongoing atrocities against unarmed civilians. This announcement came just hours after Israel declared on Saturday that it targeted Hamas military wing leader al-Deif and commander of the Khan Yunis Brigade, Raef Salama, in southern Gaza. However, these reports were not confirmed, and the strikes on the Mawasi refugee camp resulted in at least 90 deaths and 300 injuries, according to the health ministry in the enclave.
