Bouhaibeb Receives Call from Norwegian Counterpart, Emphasizing De-escalation

As part of the diplomatic efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants to curb Israel's aggression and halt its assaults on Lebanon, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bouhaibeb, received a phone call today from his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide. During the call, they discussed the latest efforts and initiatives to prevent the region from slipping into a full-scale war due to Israel's dangerous escalation in Lebanon and Iran, alongside its continued aggression against Lebanon and Gaza. Bouhaibeb affirmed that the Israeli escalation aims to disrupt the U.S. President's initiative to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, which was adopted by the Security Council in Resolution No. 2735. He condemned Israel's deliberate targeting of civilians in its attacks on Lebanon, describing it as a blatant violation of international law principles. For his part, the Norwegian Foreign Minister emphasized that his country is striving, alongside all concerned parties, to de-escalate tensions and prevent matters from spiraling out of control. He noted that caring for the interests of Palestinians and achieving a ceasefire in Gaza requires avoiding igniting a war in the region. He also confirmed that Norway, which is highly concerned about Lebanon, does not wish for it to become a victim of a new wave of escalation and wars in the region.
