Egyptian Woman Assaults Mother-in-Law and Claims to Be Under a Spell (Video)

A shocking incident occurred in the Sharqia Governorate of Egypt where a woman assaulted her mother-in-law and dragged her, taking advantage of her husband’s absence who is working abroad in one of the Arab countries.

A video shows three women, one of whom is cleaning the stairs. When she sits down, her daughter-in-law brutally attacks her, attempting to hit her with a piece of wood and dragging her down the stairs, while the mother of the assailant tries to calm the situation and separate them. The video was published by Ali Nabiel, who turned out to be the victim's son and the husband of the assailant. He stated, “I’m sharing this video so that no one in the village can accuse my mother. I will go to Egypt to defend her rights.”

What is the story?

Mrs. Hanan revealed details of the incident, stating it occurred last Friday when she was surprised by her daughter-in-law trying to provoke her, with her mother also assisting. She explained that her son is traveling, her daughters are married, and she lives at home only with her daughter-in-law.

Hanan added that the relatives of her daughter-in-law encourage her to create problems. "She accuses me of starving her and of asking for money unnecessarily... I told her I would call my son today and that she should stay alone in her apartment while I stay alone. Suddenly, she hit me and dragged me, even cutting my hair... I could have stopped her, but I was in shock and didn’t know what to do. Her mother was present and couldn’t do anything either.”

The son, Ali Nabiel, commented on the video saying, “My mother, your rights are mine. If I was present, this wouldn’t have happened. Damn abroad... unfortunately, that’s my wife who hit my mother, who should be treated like her own mother. My mother always told me to excuse her, and this is the outcome.”

Nabiel mentioned his wife’s full name while asserting that he published the video to counter his wife's claims that his mother was the one who attacked her. He expressed, “I wanted to post the video so that they can’t say in town that my mother hit her first. They only forgot that there are cameras... I swear I am going through circumstances only God knows, and I will defend my mother’s rights. I will return to Egypt soon, and God is sufficient for me.”

He also mentioned that even though he wasn’t there when the incident occurred, he insisted on returning from his travels to appease his mother, saying that she is the most important thing in his life. He took loans and lost a lot in his work just to return and make things better for her.

According to security authorities in Sharqia, they received a report from a woman named Hanan who lives in a residential building in the Deirb Nigm police precinct, accusing her daughter-in-law of severely assaulting her due to family disputes.

Authorities apprehended “Nidaa H.M.”, 20 years old, following the circulated video, which showed the daughter-in-law provoking conflicts that escalated into a brutal assault on Hanan in the absence of her son, witnessed by her mother.

The report included video footage captured by security cameras documenting the assault while police took action, arrested the accused, and opened a case against her.

As reported by Al-Youm Al-Sabea, the daughter-in-law broke down during investigations, expressing deep regret for her actions against her mother-in-law. She stated, “I don’t know how I did that and I haven’t been able to manage; I’ve been ill for a week from spells and witchcraft.” Her parents mentioned during the investigation that she has been suffering from witchcraft for a week and was referred to imams, stating that she regretted her actions.
