The local unit of the Ras El Bar city council in northern Egypt has warned vacationers for the second consecutive day against visiting the beach due to "high waves and unprecedented water surges." Visitors to Ras El Bar were surprised early this Saturday morning by severe water surging, causing water to flow into the café area facing the beach and flooding several homes, which created a state of panic among vacationers in the area.
While local authorities confirmed that the situation is under control and that the severe water surge is the only concern, vehicles from the local unit patrolled Ras El Bar, warning citizens through loudspeakers about the strong water currents and the dangers of swimming at this time. The unit clarified that the instructions to avoid going into the sea are for the safety of citizens.
