The army command stated in a statement that "on July 28, 2024, the air forces, with the support of other army units and in cooperation with the civil defense, managed to extinguish a fire that broke out in the town of Qbaiyat - Akkar." Civil defense teams from various centers, the first responder team from the Al-Qaitaa Union, and the Akkar Trail team, supported by army helicopters, are working to extinguish the fire in the forests of the towns of Bzal, Qbaiyat, and Habshit in the Akkar mountains. However, the flames are still raging due to the ruggedness of the valleys and the density of the trees. The area consumed by the fire so far is estimated at 25 hectares of oak, pine, olive trees, and agricultural lands.
