The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Sudanese government responded to a U.S. invitation to hold negotiations in Geneva to reach a ceasefire in the country, stating that any negotiations before the implementation of the "Jeddah Declaration," which calls for comprehensive withdrawal and a halt to expansion, will not be acceptable. The ministry's statement indicated that its response to Washington's initiative emphasized the necessity of prior consultation with the Sudanese government regarding the format and agenda of any negotiations and the parties participating or attending, ensuring that the Jeddah platform and the agreements made there serve as the foundation. In its response, the Sudanese government requested a meeting with the United States to "properly prepare for peace negotiations in a way that brings the expected benefits to the Sudanese people," according to the statement.
