The Turkish presidency announced today, Wednesday, that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will visit the country on August 14 and 15. The head of the media and communication department at the Turkish presidency, Fahrettin Altun, stated, "President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine will visit our country on August 14 and 15." He added, "Mr. Abbas will meet with our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Tuesday, August 14, and will deliver a speech before the Turkish Parliament general assembly on Wednesday, August 15." Earlier, the Palestinian ambassador to Turkey, Mustafa Barghouti, mentioned that Abbas agreed to accept the invitation to visit Turkey and meet President Erdoğan. The pro-government Turkish newspaper "Türkiye" reported that the Turkish Parliament invited Abbas to deliver a speech coinciding with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech in the U.S. Congress.
