The Human Resources Department of the Government of Dubai announced on Wednesday the pilot launch of the "Our Summer is Flexible" initiative, aimed at reducing working hours in participating government entities during the summer. Fifteen government entities are taking part in the pilot implementation of the initiative, which "enhances workplace flexibility by reducing working hours to seven hours and suspending work on Fridays," according to a statement from the Dubai Government Media Office.
The initiative will be implemented from August 12 to September 30, with the goal of "increasing the happiness and well-being of employees by enhancing social life and increasing job well-being during the summer to encourage the balance between work and social life." The statement from the Dubai Government Media Office indicated that the launch of the initiative "aligns with the strategies and visionary outlook of the wise leadership regarding the 'Dubai Life Quality Strategy 2033,' which focuses on quality of life and places the individual at its core, reinforcing Dubai's global status as a preferred city for living, working, and stability."
Abdullah Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, the Director-General of the Human Resources Department of the Government of Dubai, mentioned that the launch of the initiative reflects the department's commitment to "creating a flexible work environment that supports achieving a balance between work and personal life for Dubai government employees in accordance with the best global practices, aligning with our mission to enable the HR sector by developing smart solutions and flexible, innovative policies that support the competitiveness of the Emirate of Dubai."
