An Iranian representative has confirmed the involvement of internal entities in the assassination of Ismail Haniya, the head of Hamas's political bureau, at his residence in Tehran. Lotfollah Dezkam, a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts, stated during a Friday prayer sermon in Shiraz that "the enemy used infiltrated internal factors to assassinate Ismail Haniya."
According to the Iranian news agency "Akhbar al-Ja'af," this is the first acknowledgment by a high-ranking Iranian official regarding the involvement of internal entities in Haniya’s assassination. On Wednesday, Iran and Hamas announced that Haniya had been assassinated by targeting his residence in a heavily secured area in northern Tehran.
On Thursday, the Iranian newspaper "Jomhouri Islami" urged authorities to investigate infiltrators within Iran concerning the assassination of Hamas's political bureau chief, Ismail Haniya. The newspaper noted that "the primary damage is the presence of infiltrated factors inside," adding that "Israel's ability to launch a missile through the bedroom window of Ismail Haniya in a completely fortified location in Tehran only means that Israel has agents on the inside."
It emphasized that "to stay safe from assassinations, we must first enhance our capabilities to intercept enemy drones and secondly, conduct a thorough cleansing of our intelligence and security groups." The newspaper concluded that "more important than retaliation for Haniya's assassination is closing down the enemy's infiltration routes in the air and on the ground and identifying and punishing the related elements that we have ignored. We must seek out the core agents involved in these assassinations at the highest levels."
