The Director General of the National Social Security Fund, Mohammad Karki, issued a circular numbered 1781, requesting all heads of offices and liquidators listed in an accompanying list, and others responsible for the liquidation of health insurance transactions, to fully comply with the liquidation of all hospitalization transactions involving cut surgical procedures starting from 1/4/2024. These transactions must be processed within a maximum period of one month from the date of receiving these records in the office.
A statement from the Public Relations Directorate of the fund noted that at the beginning of last month, a meeting was held between the management of the National Social Security Fund and a delegation from the Syndicate of Private Hospitals in Lebanon to overcome all obstacles and concerns hindering the implementation of cut surgical health services. Positive cooperation was evident from both sides through measures and procedures aimed at facilitating the completion and processing of hospitalization transactions to expedite the payment of financial dues to hospitals, thereby maintaining a solid trust relationship between them and the fund, which reflects on the quality of health services for insured individuals without burdening them with additional financial costs.
Following the issuance of the director general’s media memo 761 dated 10/7/2024, which addressed the issue of including cut surgical work in the hospitals' automation programs, Dr. Karki continued this cooperative path by issuing another circular on 8/8/2024, numbered 1781. This circular calls for all heads of offices and liquidators listed in the attached list to fully commit to liquidating all hospitalization transactions involving cut surgical procedures starting from 1/4/2024 and processing these transactions within a maximum of one month from the date they are received in the office.
The transaction processing will then continue in the monitoring and financial departments to be ready for payment to hospitals within two months from receipt, consistent with the director general's commitments made to the syndicate delegation, signaling good faith towards the healthcare and medical sector, which is considered the backbone of the health sector in the country. This also aims to consolidate the steps Lebanon has begun to reclaim its role as the hospital of the East.
In conclusion, the director general urges all hospitals contracted with the fund to expedite the submission of the lists of cut hospitalization transactions to their designated offices, enabling the fund to pay them within the aforementioned period.
