The Trial of the Gathering Serial Killer: Court Decisions

The Cairo Criminal Court, held in the Fifth Settlement and presided over by Judge Yasser Ahmadawy, decided to postpone the trial session of the Gathering Serial Killer and his accomplice, accused of luring women to him for immoral acts, to August 15. Lawyer Marwan Salem, representing the Gathering Serial Killer, requested the recusal of the court headed by Judge Yasser Ahmadawy after it rejected his request to have the defendant examined by forensic medicine again and for a psychological assessment to determine his mental competence.

He also requested the summoning of the forensic doctor who prepared the report on the Gathering Serial Killer to discuss the report. The lawyer insisted on his requests in front of the court, while the public prosecution rejected the requests, as did the court, prompting the lawyer to demand the recusal of the court, leading the judge to adjourn the session for a decision.

During the session, the Cairo Criminal Court heard the public prosecutor's remarks in the case against the Gathering Serial Killer, who is accused of murdering three women and disposing of their bodies on the desert road between Cairo, Port Said, and Ismailia, along with his accomplice for luring women for immoral acts.

The Gathering Serial Killer confessed to the details involving the third victim: he stated that he needed to engage with a dead person, expressed his disgust towards the victim, and after consuming narcotics, he strangled her for five minutes, hung her on the bathroom door, stomped on her body, and performed immoral acts with her corpse.

The Cairo Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Yasser Ahmadawy, decided to postpone the fourth session of the trial of the defendant Karim Selim, the Gathering Serial Killer, charged with murdering three women, for a ruling following the lawyer's request for the court’s recusal, to August 15, to take the necessary recusal procedures. The session witnessed a dispute between the defense, which insisted on their requests to have the defendant assessed by forensic medicine, the public prosecution which rejected the request and affirmed that he had already been examined by the Forensic Medicine Authority, and the court which did not comply with the defense's requests.

Lawyer Marwan Salem requested the recusal of the court led by Judge Yasser Ahmadawy after it rejected his request to have the defendant examined by forensic medicine again and for a psychological assessment to evaluate his mental health. He also requested the summoning of the forensic doctor who prepared the report on the Gathering Serial Killer for discussion, and the lawyer persisted in his demands before the court, which were rejected by both the public prosecution and the court, leading the lawyer to demand the court's recusal, and the judge adjourned the session.
