Disturbing footage showed a nurse returning home from the grocery store with her boyfriend in Seattle before he allegedly killed her while high on drugs. Andy Chu, 26, confessed to killing his girlfriend, Zoe Su Youn Hee, of Chinese descent, during her visit from Hawaii over the weekend, according to the King County Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutors stated that Chu "wrapped her neck and held her underwater in the bathtub." An autopsy revealed she also suffered severe trauma to her head, face, neck, chest, and extremities, as well as having a golf ball lodged in her throat.
Security camera footage from a neighbor showed Chu and the victim entering the house carrying groceries on August 9. The following day, Chu left the home alone and was seen on camera pulling something from under his shirt, wrapped in what appeared to be a towel. Later, his friends took him to the hospital due to his unusual behavior. Police discovered the nurse's body after neighbors reported water flowing from Chu's home. Subsequently, they arrested him at the University of Washington Medical Center after he had assaulted a nurse.
He told police that while he was with He, he took two "molly" pills and smoked marijuana, indicating that he might have killed her, stating he has memories of choking her, wrapping her neck, and holding her underwater in the bathtub. He also mentioned that he thought he broke her neck and "remembers that she was bleeding from her nose." Afterward, he pulled her out of the bathtub and attempted to revive her in bizarre ways, including "sprinkling acai powder all over her body" and "putting a ball resembling a golf ball in her mouth to fix her jaw."
Chu told authorities that he had been dating He since January, and she had just arrived from Hawaii, where they attended the same high school. Chu has been charged with first-degree murder, with his bail set at $5 million. His next court hearing is scheduled for August 28.
