An altercation occurred between Egyptian artist Mohamed Fouad and a hospital staff in Cairo following his brother’s health emergency. A statement from Ain Shams University indicated that Ain Shams Specialized Hospital received Fouad's brother, patient Abdul Aziz Fouad, in the emergency department at 5 AM on Tuesday. It noted that "while the doctor was performing his duties and preparing to admit the patient to the cardiac intensive care unit, the patient's brother, artist Mohamed Fouad, arrived accompanied by several individuals, who threatened the responsible physician and verbally assaulted him with offensive language."
The statement added that "security and nursing staff present in the emergency department were attacked, and the entire incident was recorded by the hospital's surveillance cameras." A circulated video captured moments of physical clashes between Fouad and some hospital staff.
The University of Ain Shams expressed its "strong condemnation of any assault on medical staff while performing their duties" and affirmed its complete respect for the law and full trust in the Egyptian judiciary, stating that the incident has been referred to the prosecution under case number 3747 for the year 2024, administrative Awaili.
For its part, the Egyptian Medical Syndicate rejected claims of Mohamed Fouad's assault on the hospital staff. Dr. Khaled Amin, assistant secretary-general of the Medical Syndicate, stated: "An assault occurred by the singer Mohamed Fouad on a physician and the working staff at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital. According to witnesses, Fouad told the doctor, 'Do you know who you are talking to?'"
Amin continued on his Facebook page, addressing Mohamed Fouad: "You are an ordinary citizen like any citizen in Egypt, deserving the best possible medical service, and you have no right to assault the medical and nursing staff at the hospital. Even if you feel there was negligence, there are many official and legal channels available for complaints and reporting."
He added: "If you believe you deserve special treatment because you are famous, then you deserve special accountability for the same reason."
As of now, there has been no comment from Mohamed Fouad. Reports have indicated that the altercation erupted when the artist protested the delay in his brother’s medical examination.
In a related context, a statement from the spokesperson for the Musicians' Syndicate, Mohamed Abdullah, mentioned that they would "not intervene in the artist's personal matters, as these issues pertain to the relevant security authorities."
