Meteorologist Ali Al-Jaber Al-Ziyadi reported that Iraq is expecting the strongest heat wave starting next Thursday, lasting for several days. He urged government authorities to suspend official working hours after this coming Thursday. Al-Ziyadi explained that "the cities of the country are promised a hot wave beginning next Thursday, which is considered the most intense of this summer season and could be exhausting due to complete calm in the winds, making the feeling of hot and humid weather quite high." He added that "the wave will last for three days and will sometimes approach temperatures of 50 degrees Celsius, especially in southern cities and the central parts." Al-Ziyadi continued by saying that "this wave comes in the last days of summer, and we request that government authorities suspend work on Thursday. There may begin a gradual decrease in temperatures towards the end of this month, returning to normal especially at the beginning of September, with temperatures expected to reach between 42-44 degrees Celsius in central and southern parts of the country."
