Minister of the Interior: We are making the necessary effort to secure required support for municipalities

The President of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, met with the Minister of Interior and Municipalities in the caretaker government, Bassam Mawlawi, to discuss the developments of the general situation in Lebanon and the latest political and security updates, in addition to the measures being taken by the Ministry of Interior to address the current circumstances. After the meeting, Mawlawi stated that "the visit to Berri was to brief him on all the efforts being made by the Ministry of Interior, both in terms of security and the operation of municipalities, particularly in these difficult conditions that the country, as well as all of Lebanon, the south, and the Bekaa, are experiencing. All of Lebanon is one."

He noted, "We informed Berri about the work of the security forces and their concern for areas affected by displacement, emphasizing that the state and its institutions should remain present alongside the steadfast citizens and displaced individuals, especially since most of the displaced are still in the southern regions. We honor the resilience of the Lebanese, the steadfastness of the people of the south, and every Lebanese person who clings to their land, their homeland, and their home. We must all remain attached to our country."

Mawlawi added, "We also briefed Berri on the work of municipalities and how they can fulfill their roles in these challenging circumstances, and how we are making the necessary efforts to provide the required support for municipalities through various resources we can secure for them to continue their work." He pointed out that "we also discussed with Berri the issue of electricity and the significant efforts being made by the caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to procure the essential materials for electricity generation, especially from Iraq and other countries, notably Algeria. We also reviewed the political situation and developments in Lebanon and the region."
