The British Ministry of Defense is conducting an investigation following the discovery of a set of documents containing sensitive military information found discarded in the street.
The papers, some marked as "Official – Sensitive," were discovered partly visible from a black garbage bag in the Scotswood area of Newcastle on March 16, according to the British news agency "PA Media."
BBC reported that the documents include details on "soldiers' ranks, shift patterns, email addresses, weapon incident records, and access information to military facilities."
The broadcaster added that the documents appear to be related to units stationed at the Catterick Garrison.
Among the documents was reportedly a paper titled "Armory Keys and IDS Codes," believed to refer to the armory and intruder detection system.
The documents were found by Mike Gibberd, a football fan from Gateshead, who stumbled upon them while parking his car before the English League Cup Final (Carabao Cup) match between Newcastle United and Liverpool.
Government guidelines indicate that some "official-sensitive" documents could pose a "threat to life" if exposed.
