The US military announced on Tuesday that it has concluded its tenth consecutive night of strikes against Iran, targeting Iranian military command centers and naval objectives.
According to a statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on the platform X, the strikes were aimed at "Iranian military command centers, naval assets, missile and drone sites, and air defense systems in a bid to undermine Iran's capability to continue attacking commercial ships traversing the Strait of Hormuz."
The statement added that "US forces remain on standby and prepared to hold Iran accountable for unwarranted acts of aggression against civilian sailors seeking free and open passage through the strait."
On Monday evening, CENTCOM announced a new round of US strikes on Iran, marking the tenth consecutive night of such actions.
CENTCOM stated that the strikes, initiated at 20:00 GMT, aim to "continue weakening Iranian military capabilities used in attacking commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz."
The US Central Command communicated through social media that these strikes are intended to further undermine the military capabilities Iran employs in commercial maritime attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that air defense systems near the Bushehr nuclear plant have been activated, with explosions heard in Bandar Abbas. Additionally, multiple explosions were reported in Chabahar, Konarak, and the central city of Isfahan, though the IRNA agency cited Isfahan's governor saying no explosion occurred there that night.
This development follows Iranian President Masoud Pashazadeh's remarks on Monday that Iran is in a "full-scale war" with the United States, which has expanded its strikes on Iran to include Bushehr, home to a nuclear power plant.
Since last week, US strikes have not been confined to southern Iran, where hostilities resumed on July 7, but have also spread to central and northwestern parts of the country, according to local officials.
The conflict has rendered null a memorandum of understanding agreed upon on June 17, which aimed to initiate negotiations on Iran's nuclear file and other issues to ultimately end the conflict.
